Senior Fitness Programs and Wellness

Promoting Physical
Well-Being

Regular physical activity is key to reducing stress, controlling body weight, improving brain health, and having other long-term benefits. For seniors, it can also help manage chronic health conditions, including type 2 diabetes.

The Fitness Center at Allerton House Hingham is designed to support older adults and encourage them to engage in physical activity for healthy aging. The Center features ergonomic stationary bikes, a recumbent elliptical, exercise balls, and an array of free weights to get heart rates up and work the major muscle groups. The state-of-the-art equipment minimizes stress on bones and joints.

Certified personal trainers spend time with Allerton House residents, ensuring they are safe while using the fitness equipment and lifting weights to increase muscle strength. The Center is conveniently located on the first floor. Center staff offer classes such as cycling, weight training, and stretching. Activities are supervised, and the Center is open six days a week.

Supporting a Healthy Lifestyle

Overall health and wellness programs are part of our daily routines at Allerton House Assisted Living, often doubling as fun social activities. Our life-enriching programming encourages engagement to promote physical and mental well-being among other health benefits that help residents get – and stay – healthy and enhance their quality of life.

Our Fitness Center offers residents opportunities to exercise on state-of-the-art equipment. Residents are also encouraged to join wellness programs designed to enable seniors at all fitness levels to achieve their physical fitness goals and maintain the strength and flexibility they need to live as independently as possible for as long as possible.
